Besides learning your ABCs you learn the importance of making friends and building peer-relationships. Watching a child come home excited about what they learned in Pre-K – whether it be a song or letter from the alphabet – builds enthusiasm around learning.

“I am a first time mother of a 2 ½ year old boy,“ writes Lillian from the Bronx. "Pre-k is very important for my son’s learning process. Kids are like sponges; they soak up knowledge quickly, and we have to take advantage of that.
"I also hope that the after-school program will be available for my son, so it can help him in school and keep him off the streets – not to mention the extra time it gives me to get home from work.”
